Six suspected thieves were arrested in connection with more than 50 burglaries in West Valley City.

The four adults and two teens are accused of breaking into homes during daytime hours and taking electronics, jewelry and firearms, West Valley City police wrote in a press statement.

Officers caught two of the burglars in the act after being called to a "suspicious circumstance" in December, police wrote.

"Over the next few months, a 20 percent decrease was noted in residential burglaries throughout West Valley City," police wrote.

Further investigation linked the two suspects to other burglaries and the four other burglars in what police describe as a "sophisticated residential burglary ring."

Three of the adults were charged Wednesday with assorted crimes including a combined 40 first-degree felony counts, 27 second-degree felonies, 23 third-degree felonies and 24 misdemeanors.
