Adolescence and all the confusion that comes with minds, bodies and relationships in flux is bread and butter for young-adult novelist Sara Zarr.
In her 2009 book "What We Lost," Zarr uses the abduction of a teenage girl to explore the effect of the tragedy on youth in the community as well as deep questions of faith and doubt. Her latest work, "Roomies," takes a more lighthearted approach to youth in transition, focusing on two recent high school grads who are matched to become college roommates and the up-and-down process of becoming friends.
On Friday at 12:15 p.m., the Tribune's monthly book club, Utah Lit, features Tribune columnist Ann Cannon, book reporter Ellen Fagg Weist and reporter Jennifer Napier-Pearce discussing the two books and why so many best-selling YA novelists call Utah home.
