SLC taking reservations for park pavilions

Salt Lake City's Parks and Public Lands Division will begin taking 2014 pavilion reservations on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon on a walk-in basis at its Parks and Public Lands Division office, 1965 W. 500 South.

Beginning Monday, pavilion reservations can be made by phone at 801-972-7860, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Reservations made by phone must be paid at the time of transaction by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express.)

Pavilion spaces are available to the public at Fairmont, Jordan, Liberty, Lindsey Gardens, Poplar Grove, Sherwood, Sunnyside, Washington, Westpointe and City Creek Canyon. The reservation season runs from April 14 to Oct 12. All other dates are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pavilion rates are $41.48 for Salt Lake City residents, $51.85 for nonresidents, except at Liberty Park and Washington Park (located in Parleys Canyon).

Half-day rentals of Liberty Park pavilions (8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.) are $41.48 for residents and $51.85 for non-residents. Washington Park also has pavilions available on the half-day schedule with rates of $77.78 for residents and $103.70 for nonresidents.

Recreation kits that include two softballs, two baseball bats, a volleyball and volleyball net, a set of horseshoes and a football and a soccer ball can be picked up on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. the day of or the day before the reservation. The rental cost is $11.08 at the time of pickup. Recreation kits are due back the business day after the reservation. (Parks and Public Lands offices are closed Saturdays and Sundays and major holidays.) Recreation kits are not available for City Creek Canyon reservations.
