Mayor Ralph Becker and Utah Transit Authority General Manager Mike Allegra will officially launch sales of the new Salt Lake City Hive Pass on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Urban Room of the Main Library, 210 E. 400 South.

The new transit pass is a pilot program created through a partnership between Salt Lake City and UTA that will initially only be available to Salt Lake City residents. The one-year pass is good on all TRAX, Frontrunner, bus and S-line Streetcar services and available for an up-front payment of $350 or for $360 in 12 monthly installments.

"As we continue our work on addressing air-quality issues on many fronts, I see this new, very affordable option for our residents as a major step in the right direction," Becker said.

"The Hive Pass is available for essentially what a rider would spend on six round-trips a month, and I look forward to the program creating many new transit users and getting more cars off the roads."

The Hive Pass will be on sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Main Library, Urban Room. Beginning Monday, it will be available at a variety of permanent sales locations, including the City Hall, Salt Lake City Public Utilities Office and Sorenson Unity Center.

Residents may also take advantage of a number of scheduled remote sales opportunities at their neighborhood Salt Lake City Library branches or at city events like the Winter Farmers Market. In-person purchase is necessary. The pass requires a photo of the user as well as proof of residency. For more details visit http://www.ridewithhive.com
