Letter: Make HIVE pass available to all in ..

When I saw the offer for the new HIVE pass offered by UTA, I was very encouraged to give the UTA a try ("SLC resident transit passes go on sale," Tribune, Feb. 28). I talked to my co-workers about it and we were all thinking … Wow! That is a great deal!

Even though it's not so convenient for me to ride TRAX, since a station is so far from where I live, I thought I might just purchase this pass and start to ride. Then I realized it was only for Salt Lake City residents. What a letdown.

If the HIVE pass is an initiative for cleaning up our air, it should be made available to all Salt Lake County residents. Aren't we trying to clean up the air for the entire state?

Most of the people who live in Salt Lake City usually stay within the city. When will "an innovative new approach" be made to make riding transit more convenient for all residents? With the transit already being very inconvenient for most residents south of Salt Lake City, due to the lack of stops/stations, something really needs to be done to encourage or make it worth it for a wider range of residents.
