James' journey: Utah's autism lottery 'changed his life' • About 300 Utah children have been selected in a lottery to receive free autism behavioral therapy through Medicaid. The program has, by all measures, been a success, but it will expire in June if lawmakers don't pass HB88, a bill to permanently extend it.

Infertility is widespread but many Utah couples can't afford help • A Sandy couple spent $8,000 in 2008 on infertility treatments to be able to conceive a baby. Marissa and Matt King, of Orem, spent $20,000. Tiffany and Jon Alleman, of Sandy, spent $25,000. While the cost of infertility treatments is comparable to other medical-care costs, most insurance providers don't cover it, and the only way to pay is out of pocket.

Researchers seek to study spirituality through Brain Project • The Religious Brain Project is a new effort that's envisioned as being a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional approach to the academic study of how religion influences the brain. The first study, already begun, will image the brains of returned Mormon missionaries with an advanced MRI machine as they undergo what they consider to be a religious experience.
