Krasnaya Polyana, Russia • Park City skier Danelle Umstead placed fourth Monday in the super-G women's visually impaired class at the Paralympic Winter Games.

Skiing with her husband, Rob, as her guide, Umstead finished in 1 minute, 32.04 seconds at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Center. She was 2.28 seconds out of third place. Great Britain's Kelly Gallagher won the race, earning her country's first-ever gold medal in the Winter Games.

In the sitting class, Park City's Stephani Victor was among four (of eight) contestants who did not finish the race. Germany's Anna Schaffelhuber won the event, with U.S. skier Laurie Stephens collecting her second bronze medal of the Games.

The Alpine skiing competition continues Tuesday with the super combined event. Five athletes with Utah ties will compete in the snowboardcross event Friday.
