Someone, or a group of them, are apparently throwing themselves through vinyl fences on Salt Lake City's east side — and the police want them found.

It's happened 10 times since November, generally around Foothill Boulevard — three of those times at the same house. The damage to each fence ranges from $250 to $1,500, according to the police.

A detective assigned to the case says the damage "appears to be the result of people purposely hurling themselves through the fences," according to a news release.

The vandals strike between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., and mostly on weekends, the police add.

The police want the public's help identifying the suspects. At this time, investigators have no descriptions of the suspects and no video surveillance of the crimes in progress.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 801-799-3000. People can also send anonymous tips by texting TIPSLCPD and any relevant information to 274637 with the case number 14-38438, or "vinyl fence cases."
