Green River Fishing Report - Trout on streamers, pike on live ducks

Ryan Kelly - the Green River Fly Fisher - sent in this report. Streamer fishing remains by far and away the most entertaining form of fishing. The A section fish have lost interest in cannibalistic behavior, but B and C section remain solid. Nymph fishing has been good, but not great on A and B sections and the dry fly fishing remains sporadic. There are pods of risers and a few hatches here and there, but nothing with any consistency. There are still a few pike out and about. I caught one last month and lost one recently. Another guide on the river, Kevin Clegg, reported watching a pike take down a duck. I would have liked to have been there for that as I don't get much of a chance to pull out my duck flies. Remember, pike are a "catch and kill" species, and although very they are very good on the dinner table, they are not welcomed on this part of the Green River. This time of year is great for wildlife as well. In the last few days I have come across otters, eagles, deer, elk and pronghorns. The weather has been beautiful, so get out and enjoy!
