Letter: Power, speed culture to blame for bicyclists' deaths

I am making this letter blunt. Pedestrians and bicyclists are never at fault in a roadway collision!

They have neither the mass, velocity nor inertia to harm anything more than a flower garden. The two bicyclists killed in Lehi were murdered by a culture. Lives horribly shortened by a deliberate form of thinking ("2 bicyclists killed in crash on Redwood Road in Lehi," Tribune, March 12).

In this pathologically insensitive USA there has been created a power-and-speed culture that puts to shame Darwin's idea of natural selection — a subtle and sophisticated escalating framework always trending toward vilifying and criminalizing the less powerful, weak, vulnerable and "different."

I will fight this Goliath mindset to my death.
