Letter: Why do we need to know about judge's pregnancy?

Congratulations to Judge Carolyn McHugh on her confirmation to the 10th Circuit Court bench ("Senate confirms first Utah woman to 10th Circuit Court bench," Tribune, March 12).

I do wonder why the writer of the article thought it necessary to bring up her pregnancy status from the early 1980s. When was the last time a male nominee's due date was of such grave importance?

No dang wonder people outside our borders think we're an odd bunch.
