Republican Mia Love declared herself an improved candidate as she filed the paperwork Monday to run in the state's 4th Congressional District. Love narrowly lost to Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, in 2012, but Matheson isn't seeking re-election this year. Love is the only Republican who has officially entered the race so far, though business executive Bob Fuehr plans to file Tuesday. Democrats Doug Owens and Bill Peterson, along with Libertarian Jim Vein are also official candidates. Rep. Rob Bishop also filed to run for re-election in Utah's 1st Congressional District on Monday. Those interested in seeking federal and state offices have until Thursday at 5 p.m. to file a declaration of candidacy at the state election office.
