AVP beach volleyball tour returns to SLC

The AVP beach volleyball tour is returning to Salt Lake City.

The tour, which stopped at Liberty Park last summer and played to large crowds, returns to the same venue from Aug. 7-10, the AVP announced Monday.

Other AVP tour stops will included St. Petersburg, Fla.; Milwaukee; Manhattan Beach, Calif.; Cincinnati; Atlantic City, N.J.; and Huntington Beach, Calif.

The AVP is home to some of the nation's top beach volleyball players ,including Olympic gold medalists Kerri Walsh-Jennings (2004, 2008, 2012), Todd Rogers (2008) and Phil Dalhausser (2008); Olympic silver medalists April Ross (2012) and Jen Kessy (2012); two-time Olympians and Jake Gibb (2008, 2012), a Utah native, and Sean Rosenthal (2008, 2012); and Olympian Nicole Branagh (2008).

The tour also features up-and-coming stars who are helping build the future of the sport, such as Casey Patterson, Theo Brunner, Summer Ross, Emily Day and 2013 AVP rookies of the year Tri Bourne and Lane Carico.

Tickets for the 2014 AVP tournaments will go on sale in the coming weeks, and information will be available at www.AVP.com.
