Author/journalist Tom Zoellner's 'Train' stops in Salt Lake City

On Sunday, The Salt Lake Tribune announced that "Train" by Tom Zoellner is the April selection for Utah Lit, our monthly online book club.

While you're reading the book, you'll have two opportunities to hear Zoellner read from the book and speak in person.

Zoellner, a former Tribune reporter and author of five books, is a keynote speaker at Saturday's Society of Professional Journalists Region 9 Conference to be held at the Brigham Young University Salt Lake Center.

At 10:30 a.m., he'll speak at the conference on the topic, "Beyond noun journalism: Finding the international importance in 'big topic' stories."

The conference is open to anyone with an interest in journalism. You can register or find more information here.

Friday night at 7 p.m., Zoellner will read from "Train" and sign copies of the book at King's English Bookshop, 1511 S. 1500 East, Salt Lake City.

That event is free and open to the public.

In "Train," Zoellner takes readers on a journey through India, northern England, the Peruvian Andes and across the Trans-Siberian Railroad. It's the first nonfiction work selected for Utah Lit. In the next few weeks, we'll provide video and a story about Zoellner and his work at sltrib.com and in the The Tribune's print edition.
