Utah Habitat for Humanity group hires first executive director

Habitat for Humanity for Weber and Davis Counties is moving from an all-volunteer to a full-time paid staff and has hired a new executive director.

Habitat for Humanity for Weber and Davis Counties has been around for 10 years as an all-volunteer staff and board but has begun the shift by hiring Dede Fluette for its top spot to help more families in the area, the organization announced this week.

Fluette was formerly the executive director of the nonprofit healthcare organization Rocky Mountain Care Foundation in Bountiful. She has been involved in nonprofit work for 12 years, she said.

In the next six to 12 months, Fluette hopes to have a new Habitat For Humanity ReStore open in Ogden, a thrift store that sells do-it-yourself home improvement products.

"By the end of the year, we will have grown enough to have four to six employees and jump from doing one home a year to two or three," she said. Habitat for Humanity builds homes for low-income families in the communities they serve.
