Let me be the first to lob some logic and pass on some facts regarding John Becker's letter "Too much pickleball" (Forum, March 24).

He implies the popularity of PB is suspect and he states that Salt Lake City is converting tennis courts to PB courts at the expense of tennis players.

St. George, Ogden and even Brigham City have designated PB courts, whereas Salt Lake does not. Temporary indoor courts set up at county recreation centers are very popular and crowded. They are only available on designated days for two to three hours, as they must compete with other uses. Striping a tennis court does not prevent tennis from being played, it only enables the court to be used for both sports.

Salt Lake City is woefully underserving the growing sport of PB. Striping tennis courts is cheap; all courts should be striped. In addition, designated PB courts should be built to catch up with St. George, Ogden and Brigham City.
