The Utah Highway Patrol confirmed that a semi-trailer rig, carrying a load of batteries, flipped over Wednesday morning on Interstate 15 near St. George.

UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said there were no serious injuries from the incident, which occurred in the northbound lanes about 8:40 a.m. near mile post 22.

It took nearly two hours for responders to upright the semi and secure the load. Hazardous materials workers responded over concerns that corrosive acid may have spilled from the batteries, but that fear turned out to be unwarranted, Royce said.

No other vehicles were reported to have been involved.

Traffic was restricted until 10:18 a.m., when the right lane was reopened.
