Police have a suspect in five Salt Lake Valley bank robberies, and they're offering a reward for help bringing the man to justice.
Alexander Bacon, 45, is the prime suspect in a Feb. 2 holdup of the Zions Bank at 870 N. Highway 89 North, in North Salt Lake; the Feb. 19 robbery of the Mountain America Credit Union at 735 S. State Street, in Salt Lake City; a March 21 holdup at the Zions Bank, 3712 W. 3500 South, in West Valley City; a March 24 robbery at the US Bank, 922 E. 2100 South, in Salt Lake City; and on the same day, another holdup at the Chase Bank, 1306 E. Woodland Avenue, in Salt Lake City.
Bacon, a transient last known to frequent the area of homeless shelters in downtown Salt Lake City, is described as a balding 5-foot-11, 200-pound white male with blue eyes, a tanned, weathered face and a large nose.
SLCPD believes Bacon may be traveling in a stolen white 1994 Pontiac Sunbird (License plate number Y848PP) with his ex-wife, a 36-year-old, 5-foot-9, 143-pound woman with hazel eyes and red hair.
Police have offered $500 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000, or text information using the keyword TIPSLCPD to 274637.
