Ever wondered what the Salt Lake Valley would look like if Lake Bonneville suddenly came back?
Sam Funston was curious too, so he took a photo of the valley from South Mountain in Draper and edited in the water level from thousands of years ago with Photoshop, according to his Facebook page. Since he posted the result to Gigapan, we can all experience the Waterworld-esque imaging in an interactive panoramic view.
A warming, drying climate caused Lake Bonneville to shrink before reaching its modern size some 6,000 years ago.
Obviously, the cost of a lake resurrected to the level of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail would be astronomical.
