Suspect reportedly hits deputy's car, runs across I-15

A fleeing suspect allegedly rammed a Davis County Sheriff's deputy's vehicle Wednesday before running off across the freeway.

About 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Motor Vehicle Enforcement officers found a reportedly stolen Toyota Tundra and started trailing it until they reached the west side of Salt Lake City. The female driver sped off, but the officers decided not to pursue because of the heavy traffic, according to a news release.

Farmington police later spotted the Tundra, but they had to cut their chase short, as well, when the truck left the city.

Davis County Sheriff's deputies eventually found the truck and followed it southbound on Interstate 15, without lights or sirens. The suspect was going the speed limit until she reached North Salt Lake, where she accelerated, according to the release.

Officers laid out spikes to try to stop her near 2600 South, but she stopped before hitting them and started backing up. When she backed into the jersey barrier, a deputy blocked the path in front of her — but she then accelerated and hit the deputy's car, backed up, and hit the car again, according to the release.

She then got out of the truck and fled on foot across the northbound lanes of I-15, through traffic, the release adds. Deputies caught up to her at the northbound 2600 South off-ramp and took her into custody.

No one was hurt during the incident, according to the release.
