Utah forecast: Irresolute spring for north, breezy sunshine for the south

"It's spring." Slap. "It's winter. . . ." Slap. "It's spring." Slap, slap, slap. "It's spring AND it's winter!"

Friday's forecast for the Wasatch Front — after a week that has alternately given warming sunshine and wind, rain, hail and snow — is an irresolute compromise: overnight lows just above freezing, followed by highs in the 50s under partly cloudy skies.

That's a slight improvement from Thursday's forecast of cloudy weather with highs in the upper-40s to low-50s, though afternoon and evening showers are possible both days.

In southern Utah, sunny mornings will give way to partly cloudy horizons in the afternoons both days while high temperatures will hit the low- to mid-60s. The region also will be breezy, with winds of 10-20 mph expected.

Allergy sufferers take note: cottonwood pollen levels are high as the work week winds to a close, according to the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website. Otherwise, breathe deep, as the Utah Division of Air Quality rates the entire state as being in the "green," or healthy category.
