Sen. Orrin Hatch said the U.S. Supreme Court decision McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission was "a victory for all Americans and the free-speech protections ..."
He is wrong. This decision is a victory for unfettered capitalism and corruption ("Court loosens rules for big political campaign donors," Tribune, April 2). The Koch brothers and a few of their cronies have just bought the government of the United States.
You may continue to think that you live in a democratic republic, but you would be wrong. We now live in an oligarchy.
