Anti-drug art goes up at downtown Salt Lake..

Salt Lake City students' art, with an anti-drug theme, is on display at the downtown library starting today.

The artwork is part of the Salt Lake City Police Department's annual contest, which has been going for seven years now. The students are competing for a $2,500 scholarship and a MacBook, among other prizes, according to the department.

Judges are scheduled to pick the top entries Friday afternoon.

The department received more than 100 entries this year, though only 25 are on display at the library — the majority of those coming from Highland High School and West High School. To see all 100, visit the police department's Flickr page.

Besides rewarding students for their work, the department designed the contest as an opportunity for school resource officers to talk to teens about drug abuse.
