Utah forecast: A warm, sunny spring weather concerto

Antonio Vivaldi, in scoring violin concertos and penning companion sonnets nearly 300 years ago, could have foretold Utah's spring forecast for the new week.

Along with high temperatures in the low-70s under mostly clear, sunny skies, the Wasatch Front's canyons certainly could provide the "streams . . . caressed with sweet murmuring breezes" the composer interpreted in words and seductive Baroque melodies.

Tuesday's forecast was actually a 5-7 degrees warmer than an otherwise equally springlike Monday.

If spring was blushing into bloom in northern Utah, it was fully aroused in the southern reaches of the state. The National Weather Service promised highs in the low- to mid-80s for Utah's Dixie on Tuesday, up a few degrees from Monday's forecast. Both days also came with clear, sunny skies.

Two more reasons to venture outdoors early this week: the Utah Division of Air Quality rated the entire state as "green," or healthy for breathing, and the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website's pollen index showed all major allergens at "low" levels.
