Letter: No valid analogy using Porsches and health care, as French queen learned

Let's see, where have we heard this argument before? ("Why not give everyone a Porsche as well as health care?" Forum, April 5)

Some time ago, a famous French queen said with the same contempt and flippancy, "If they, the masses, have no bread, let them eat cake."

Besides both arguments being false analogies — comparing necessities (bread and health care) with luxuries (cake and Porsches), these arguments are also wild exaggerations and basically heartless.

And we know how Marie Antoinette's countrymen responded to her.
