Growth • Group looks for new ways to promote northern Utah

The Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce recently announced a new governing structure it hopes will accelerate growth and strengthen its impact on the community.

The plan includes an Executive Board and a Board of Governors.

The Executive Board will provide ongoing support, oversight and direction for chamber operations. The Board of Governors will engage corporate officers, business owners and community leaders in strategic planning and projects that drive Weber County business and economic development and try to grow executive-level relationships.

"As we look at the history of our community, chamber business leaders have always stepped out with initiatives that have motivated the community for positive change," said Dave Hardman, president of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce. "We see great things happening now in the community, but there are more opportunities to be fulfilled."

The Board of Governors currently has 60 members with the potential of growing to 100. The chamber has also formed a Small Business Council designed to provide additional support, resources and engagement for small business leaders.

The area is growing with the Summit Powder Mountain Project, development of the area surrounding the former Marriott Hotel, building at the Ogden River urban redevelopment and outdoor recreation.
