Peregrine falcons have returned to the nest box high on the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in downtown Salt Lake City.

The raptors apparently made their first egg deposit early Tuesday.

Fans of the peregrine falcon cam accessed via the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources webpage spotted the first egg and spread the word on the Salt Lake City Peregrine Falcons Facebook page.

The first egg spotted in 2013 was laid April 12. The falcons from last year ended up laying four eggs, but only one hatched. That bird, named Solo, crashed into a building while learning to fly on July 3 and eventually died from its injuries.
