While books called "Green Eggs and Midnight Buffets" or "The Cat in a Boat" might not be in the works, Dr. Seuss is apparently going sailing.

Carnival has joined forces with Dr. Seuss Enterprises to add the first-ever Bookville family reading venue as the company completes an extensive multi-million dollar makeover of its Carnival Freedom.

The ship, which will be in dry dock in the Bahamas from April 19 to May 3 getting retrofitted, will be the first to feature Bookville, a dedicated Seuss-themed play space featuring iconic décor, colors, shapes and furniture inspired by Dr. Seuss books.

Other Seuss at Sea activities include the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with the Cat in the Hat and Friends, an interactive reading event called Seuss-a-palooza Story Time, and the Seuss-a-palooza Character Parade along the ship's promenade.

The retrofit will also include the Freedom getting a variety of dining, bar and entertainment upgrades that are part of the line's Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement initiative.

Carnival Freedom will resume its six- to eight-day Caribbean schedule from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as well as introduce two new five-day Caribbean options.

In making the announcement, Carnival president and CEO Gerry Cahill said the additions will provide travel agents with another Fun Ship vacation option.
