Six schools in Bountiful were temporarily in lockdown Thursday afternoon, beginning at about 1:30 p.m., while police searched for a suicidal person who was possibly armed with a firearm.
But by 2:45 p.m., only Bountiful Elementary remained in lockdown, according to a tweet from the Bountiful police department.
Just before 3:30 p.m. Woods Cross police detained a suspect and the final lockdown ended.
Bountiful Assistant Police Chief Ed Biehler characterized the incident as a "lockout," rather than a "lockdown," because school continued normally inside the schools. He said there were no incidents on school property.
