The head of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts has been chosen for a prestigious education program.
Gretchen Dietrich, UMFA's executive director, is one of 39 museum executives chosen for the Getty Leadership Institute's 2014 Executive Education Program for Museum Leaders.
The GLI program is aimed to improve leadership skills for museum executives, "to manage change and forge success in the global museum field," according to a statement from UMFA.
The program includes a week of distance learning in April, and two weeks' education in June at Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, Calif.
"[Dietrich's] participation will strategically enhance her already considerable leadership capabilities as she guides the future growth of a fine arts institution that is an essential component of our campus and community's cultural life," Raymond Tymas-Jones, the University of Utah's associate vice president for the arts and dean of the College of Fine Arts, said in a statement.
