Mormon Tabernacle Choir will tour Atlantic coast in summer 2015

While most of us are still deciding what to do this summer, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is already preparing for its 2015 summer tour.

The venerable choir, along with the Orchestra at Temple Square, announced today five tour stops for 2015 — all on the Atlantic coast.

The 360-voice choir, and its 68-member orchestra, traditionally tour every other year. The choir is made up of volunteers, and members must get time off from their day jobs and family responsibilities to tour.

The tour starts Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Music Center at Strathmore, in Bethesda, Md. It's only the second time the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has performed in Maryland, and the first time was more than a century ago.

The choir and orchestra then travel north to Bethel, N.Y. — site of the famous Woodstock music festival in 1969. The choir will perform Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.

Next up is the Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where the choir and orchestra will perform on Monday, June 29, 2015. The choir last visited Saratoga Springs in 2003.

Then it's New York City — specifically, the famed Carnegie Hall, for two concerts July 1 and 2, 2015. It will mark the seventh time the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has played the Big Apple, and the first since 2003.

Then the tour closes in Boston, with a concert July 6, 2015, at the Wang Theatre. Again, the choir hasn't been in Boston since 2003.

Tickets for the Bethesda show are on sale now. Tickets for the other stops will go on sale later this year.
