Power outage leaves Midvale in the dark

Hundreds of people spent several hours without power Friday after an outage struck Midvale.
The outage began about 3 p.m. and affected 1,600 customers, according to Rocky Mountain Power spokeswoman Margaret Oler. Crews were on scene at 5 p.m. repairing the lines. Power returned to most customers by 7:40 p.m., and the entire outage ended about 8:15 p.m.
Oler said the outage resulted from a problem with underground power lines, though she did not have more information.
Oler also did not know the exact area affected by the outage, but said it was located within the 84047 ZIP code.
