Summit County Sheriff's separtment officials said they are leaning toward the cause of a shooting death in a remote corner of Summit County Friday as a suicide.

"Our preliminary investigation is leaning more towards a suicide," said Captain Justin Martinez of the Summit County Sheriff's Department. "We are waiting the official report from the medical examiners office to confirm that's what happened."

Martinez told The Tribune Friday that the sheriff's office received a call of a shooting at 5:15 p.m. that a person was shooting a weapon at 3645 E. Weber Canyon Road. A SWAT team was called, but cancelled when they arrived and a shooter was not found.

Deputies found a woman lying on the porch with a wound in the chest. Martinez described the woman as in her 20s to 30s. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
