The University of Southern California baseball team hammered Utah 13-2 on Sunday in Los Angeles, giving the Trojans a 2-1 win over the Utes in their Pac-12 series.
The Trojans (17-17, 6-9) pounded out 19 hits, including nine against Utah starter Tanner Banks (2-6). Banks took the loss, giving up four runs in four innings.
USC broke open a 2-1 game with a six-run fifth inning.
Konnor Armijo led the Utes (11-21, 2-12) at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double.
Men's tennis
USC 4, Utah 1 • The Trojans beat the host Utes in the Pac-12 contest at Eccles Tennis Center, but Utah's Slim Hamza pulled off a major upset when he beat seventh-ranked Raymond Sarmiento of the Trojans 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match.
Air Force 5, Utah State 2 • The Aggies (9-13, 0-5) are still looking for their first Mountain West victory, after falling to the host Falcons.
USU's Marcus Fritz defeated Jack McCullers 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles match. Sebastian Schneider won the No. 5 singles match for the Aggies, topping Andre Parks 6-2, 6-2.
Women's tennis
Washington 4, Utah 0 • The Utes lost in Seattle for their seventh straight Pac-12 defeat, after starting the conference campaign with two victories.
