A couple with bogus Pennsylvania identities were behind bars Monday following their arrests for fraudulently attempting to buy iPads at a Salt Lake City Apple store.

Police said the crime took place about 1:40 p.m. Saturday at 50 S. Main Street Apple outlet. The manager called 911 when a man, 22, and a woman, 19, tried to purchase the tablet computers.

The manager found a record in Apple's purchasing system of the two also having bought iPads earlier in the day with fraudulent identities at a store in Farmington.

Police arrived and arrested the couple, who remained in Salt Lake County Jail Monday without bail, booked on suspicion of second-degree felony communications fraud and third-felony forgery counts.
