A prisoner in Washington County died Sunday morning, a week after he attempted suicide in the Purgatory Correctional Facility.

David Finch, 35, was serving a prison sentence at the jail for forcible sexual abuse and burglary charges.

"The circumstances surrounding his suicide remain under investigation, but an initial review shows proper procedures were followed," said Steve Gehrke, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections.

Gehrke released no further details as to the cause of Finch's death.
