JazzSLC announces line-up for 2014-15 season

The JazzSLC series has lined up eight stellar acts — both legends and new talents — for its 2014-15 season.

All shows will be presented at the Capitol Theatre, 50 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City, unless otherwise noted. Here's the line-up:

Saturday, Sept. 13 • Monty Alexander, the veteran Jamaican-born jazz pianist, who mixes a classic jazz trio with a reggae band in his current project, The Harlem Kingston Express.

Saturday, Oct. 18 • Cyrille Aimée, an up-and-coming French jazz singer. (This show will be presented at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City.)

Monday, Nov. 10 • Hiromi, the Japanese-born pianist who has created The Trio Project with electric-bass master Anthony Jackson and British drummer Simon Phillips.

Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 • Frank Vignola's Five Generations of Guitar Artistry, in which Vignola will assemble fellow guitarists Bucck Pizzarelli, Gene Burtoncini, Martin Taylor, Julian Lage, Ed Laub and Vinny Raniola.

Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 • Stacey Kent, the Grammy-nominated vocalist, will sing bossa nova, Brazilian music and jazz.

Monday, March 30, 2015 • Pianist Cyrus Chestnut will present his Manhattan Trinity, a trio he fronts with bassist George Mraz and drummer Lewis Nash.

Monday, April 13, 2015 • "The Last Southern Gentleman," a tribute to the Southern lifestyle — and a project of pianist Ellis Marsalis and his son, trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, along with bassist John Clayton and drummer Smitty Smith.

Saturday, May 16, 2015 • Pete Escovedo, the legendary percussionist, brings his Latin Jazz Band.
