Logan • Utah State announced Wednesday the signing of 6-foot-9 center Elston Jones from Millennium High School in Goodyear, Ariz.

Jones played only seven games as a senior because of injuries, but he averaged 14 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots during his four-year prep career.

"We are very excited about Elston joining our program," Aggie coach Stew Morrill said in a statement released by the school. "We are getting a quality young man from a great family who has all the tools to be successful at the Division I level."

Morrill described Jones as "a versatile big man who can score on the block, face up on the perimeter and has excellent passing skills. He knows how important size players are in our system."

Jones is the seventh member of Utah State's 2014 recruiting class, which also includes guard Henry Bolton (Portsmouth, R.I.), guard Julion Pearre (McKinney, Texas), guard Darius Perkins (Fort Myers, Fla.), guard Chris Smith (Sacramento/Yuca Community College), forward David Collette (Murray) and guard Sam Merrill (Bountiful).

Collette is returning from an LDS Church mission this year. Merrill will not enroll until he returns from his mission.
