A Salt Lake City man, failing to convince neighbors in his duplex to quiet down early Thursday morning, allegedly decided a handgun might put an end to the noise.
But by purportedly pointing the firearm at several people instead of calling police, he instead turned an aggravating moment into at least a night in jail, according to SLCPD Detective Veronica Montoya.
The 26-year-old suspect didn't make it any easier on himself when police arrived at the scene, near 600 East and 800 South, in response to the neighbors' 911 call. He was uncooperative when officers asked about the confrontation and the weapon.
A search warrant was obtained and police then took both the suspect, and his handgun, found inside, into custody.
He remained in Salt Lake County Jail Thursday on suspicion of third-degree felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor obstruction of justice charges.
