In his article "Why high oil prices are good for airlines," Scott Mayerowitz commends the airline industry for adjusting to the new reality of higher oil prices by offering fewer seats, eliminating unprofitable routes, charging passengers extra for checking baggage, raising other fees and minimizing competition. What's good for the airline industry may not necessarily be good for its customers.
