Winter farmers market ends Saturday | The Salt Lake Tribune

Salt Lake City's winter Downtown Farmers Market will draw to a close Saturday and looks to be ending its first season on a high note.

"It went tremendously well," said director Alison Einerson. "It exceeded our expectations.

The market, which has been open since November at the Rio Grande Depot, drew about 2,000 to 2,500 people every other Saturday. Sixty vendors sold produce, meat and eggs, honey, jam, bread and cheese, among other things.

Einerson said the expectation is that the Winter Market will return next year. "It's possible we will expand the hours [of operation]," she said.

Saturday, the market will feature fresh asparagus along with meats and eggs for Easter, Einerson added.

The summer Downtown Farmers Market opens June 14 at Pioneer Park for its 22nd season.
