Northern Utah's wet, occasionally thunderous weekend forecast, coming in the wake of several warm spring days, could be a bummer — or perfect for contemplation.

It's an "April Rain," after all, a time when the Dutch symphonic-metal band Delain suggests you, "Count your blessings and prepare to change your point of view."

Saturday along the Wasatch Front begins with mostly cloudy skies and scattered morning rain showers. That picks up with winds rising to 20 mph by afternoon, ushering in increasing rainfall and thunderstorms. High temperatures for the day are expected to be in the upper-60s.

Precipitation also is on the menu for southern Utah, again with morning showers escalating thunderstorms by afternoon. High temperatures for Utah's Dixie are forecast to reach 80 degrees.

The Utah Division of Air Quality graded breathability at "green," or healthy for all state monitoring stations this weekend.

Allergy sufferers were to catch a break, though. The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website on Friday ranked only cedar at "high" levels, with all other allergens at "low."
