Interstate 15 southbound in Davis County was due for some traffic restrictions Friday night through much of Saturday morning.

The Utah Department of Transportation says southbound travelers will be squeezed into a single lane on the stretch of I-15 in Bountiful from 500 South to 1500 South 10 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. Saturday.

Construction crews will be working on reconfiguration aimed at improving traffic flow through the typically congested area — and this weekend's interruption won't be the last for the heavily traveled freeway section.

Other work this summer includes extension of express lanes on I-15 throughout Davis County, bridge replacement work, a new pedestrian bridge at Parrish Lane and sidewalk improvements on 500 North and 500 South.

Construction is expected to be complete in 2015, UDOT says.
