Utah forecast: Wind for southern Utah, weekend rain statewide

A cold front moving through Utah on Friday will bring windy weather in the central and southern areas of the state.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for central and southern Utah Friday morning, advising residents to expect winds that will likely range from 25 mph to 35 mph, but could exceed 50 mph. High temperatures are expected to climb to 68 degrees in Cedar City on Friday, and 81 degrees in St. George.

The windy weather likely won't reach farther north, according to the weather service. In northern Utah, the high temperatures will be around 68 degrees and afternoon rain is possible.

But by Saturday, another spring storm will be in full effect, bringing rain throughout most of the state.

The high temperature in northern Utah is expected to drop to 53 degrees on Saturday as rain and possible thunderstorms will last throughout much of the day. By Sunday, there will still be about a 30 percent chance of rain, and a high expected of 54 degrees.

Farther south, Cedar City could see a rain/snow mix on Saturday, and highs near 47 degrees. The weather service predicts that there will be only a 20 percent chance of rain on Sunday, and the high temperature will likely reach 56 degrees.

In St. George, the high temperature on Saturday is expected to dip to 60 degrees as it rains throughout the day. By Sunday, however, sunny skies and a high of 71 degrees are expected.
