A 10-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle at a South Jordan intersection Friday afternoon and flown to Primary Children's Hospital in critical condition.

The boy was riding his bicycle east on the sidewalk on the north side of 11800 South about 4:30 p.m. and started to cross 4000 West against a red light when he was struck, South Jordan Master Officer Sam Winkler said. The car that hit him had a green light.

The child, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered a broken arm and possible head injuries, Winkler said. He was first taken to the University of Utah Health Care South Jordan Health Center, then to Primary Children's Hospital.
