South Jordan police recovered a body from the Jordan River Sunday.

People were out walking dogs along the river near 10000 South when they saw the body about 8:15 a.m. Officers and rescuers arrived and found it belonged to a man, according to a police news release.

Investigators were not immediately sure how long the body was in the water.

Officers turned the body over to the state medical examiner's office, which will work with South Jordan detectives on the victim's identity and how he died.

Authorities closed the Jordan River Parkway Trail while investigators combed the river for clues.
