Seven of Red Butte Garden's 29 summer concerts sold out on the first evening of online ticket sales.

Tickets for the series went on sale at 7 p.m. Monday to Red Butte members. By 7:08 p.m., the July 29 concert featuring guitar legend Santana was sold out. (Santana was also the most expensive ticket in the series, at $95 each for members.)

Others that have sold out are Ben Harper (Sept. 11), Sarah McLachlan (July 1), Ray LaMontagne (Aug. 8), Earth Wind and Fire (Aug. 29), The Avett Brothers (July 9) and Sheryl Crow (Aug. 14).

A Red Butte spokesperson said the venue's new TicketFly system allowed more people online to process orders, which is why some shows sold out so fast. In total, 45,000 were sold the first day. (Red Butte seats about 3,000 per show.)

Non-members can start buying tickets Monday, May 5, at 9 a.m., at the Red Butte website.
