Here's what's being talked about in pop culture:
• The great British actor Bob Hoskins has died, at the age of 71. Hoskins' best-known roles were as an ex-con limo driver in "Mona Lisa," the cartoon-savvy detective in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," and Captain Hook's first mate Smee in "Hook." [AP, via The Salt Lake Tribune]
• The first cast photo of "Star Wars, Episode VII" is out revealing the return of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels, as well as new cast members Oscar Isaac ("Inside Llewyn Davis"), John Boyega ("Attack the Block"), newcomer Daisy Ridley, and veteran Max von Sydow. Since everyone has noticed the uneven ration of women-to-men, there's talk of another female character [StarWars.com, The Hollywood Reporter]
• Fox is canceling its future-cop series "Almost Human." Bad news for everyone who went to Salt Lake Comic Con's FanX to get your picture taken with Karl Urban. [Entertainment Weekly]
