Davis County toddler hospitalized after she is hit by a car

Police report that a 15-month-old girl is doing well after she was hit by a car Friday in Clearfield.

Paisley Padilla, of Sunset, was being baby-sat by her grandmother at the Clearfield Mobile Home Park, and both were outside when a man in a vehicle stopped and asked for directions, according to a police news release. The grandmother gave the Ogden man directions, but as he backed up in the driveway, he reportedly backed into Paisley at 4:28 p.m., according to the police.

Paisley "received apparent injuries to her right arm, right leg and her forehead," according to the release. She was conscious and breathing when a medical helicopter arrived at the mobile home park, located near 400 S. State St., to take her to Primary Children's Hospital, the release adds.

By 10 p.m., police reported that her injuries are minor and that she will remain in the hospital for a couple days for observation.

It appeared that the vehicle's right rear tire is what made contact with Paisley, according to the release. There was no evidence of any alcohol or impairment with the driver, the release adds.

Police encourage all drivers to always make certain the area is clear before backing from a driveway.
