Police expect a teenager will survive the stabbing he received walking down the street.

The 19-year-old man was near 3100 S. 4300 West in West Valley City on Saturday when a vehicle pulled up and several males got out, said police Lt. Dalan Taylor. About 12:15 a.m., there was a confrontation between them that turned into a fight, during which the teen was stabbed several times, Taylor said.

"We believe it is gang-related," Taylor said.

The teenager went to the hospital in critical condition, though investigators expect he will survive, Taylor added.
